An Introduction Please

This is for those of you who don't already know who I am, what I've done, and what I'm doing now. And also for those of you who do, but want to read it anyway.

I started running on August 6, 2007. My friend Kris sent a running plan to my friend Stephanie. That plan was Couch to 5K, and came from http://www.coolrunning.com/. Stephanie mentioned that plan to me, and I thought, "What the heck." I told Kris and Stephanie that I'd run, but that I didn't think I'd last too long because I had bad joints. They both said to just try it. So I started running, thinking I'd make it through the plan and be done with it. A month later, I hurt my ankle and couldn't run for 2 weeks. But I got right back in it and finished the training plan.

I ran my first race on November 11, 2007. It was the 5K associated with the San Antonio Marathon, the Marathon of the Americas. Turns out, it was the last time that marathon would be held. The race was super tough. It was warm, sunny, and humid. I felt like I was going to puke almost the entire time. But I finished. And I was hooked.

I ran the Austin Half-Marathon on February 17, 2008. On March 1, 2008, I ran my fastest 5K at the UTSA Diploma Dash. Then I ran my first 10K at the Fiesta Mission 10K on April 19, 2008. I ran my second half-marathon at the Carrabba's Half-Marathon and Relay on June 21, 2008. I ran 20 miles in the Reach the Beach Relay in New Hampshire on September 12 & 13, 2008.

I have more races still to come. My third half-marathon is the San Antonio Rock & Roll Marathon on November 16, 2008. (This is the race that replaced the Marathon of the Americas.) On February 15, 2009, I'll be running my first full marathon at the Austin Marathon. And these are the ones I've paid for already.

Through it all, Kris has been by my side. She's such a supportive friend, training partner, race buddy, and coach. We've done all of the races together. We'll race together in November and February. I'm sure we'll keep on training and racing together.

So one last thing, THANKS STEPHANIE for pushing me to start running and THANKS KRIS for always being there!
